Why I stopped looking for the perfect wellness solution - and what actually works!
I have been interested in all kinds of topics regarding health & wellness for a long time.
Starting with yoga in 2003, completing a yoga certification between 2007-2009. Courses about wild herbs, nutrition, hormone health, health coaching and raw vegan nutrition - and all the other stuff I have read and watched over the years - books, podcasts, youtube…
I think my kids still remember my Anthony Williams phase with celery juice in the morning vividly - it actually killed my older sons computer!
So I have tried a lot! Always hoping that the next thing would be the solution to everything! - Well, it wasn´t.
What did I learn from all the things that I tried over the years? - That we are all unique - and that there is not the one solution for everyone, not the one right way to eat, not the one correct way to exercise, not the one morning routine - I think you get the idea.
We are all different, different genes, different backgrounds, different stress levels (and the ability to handle stress) and we are all at different stages of our lives.
So what does that implicate? That we have to try out different things, different approaches and yes, I guess, trial and error comes with that. It means that we have to keep an open mind and to also let go of things that don´t serve us anymore. And especially at my age, I just turned 50, it’s important to NOT stress yourself even more (you know - cortisol and all). Which also means, sometimes less is the better choice!
So what actually helps?
Well, for me, I decided to try a different approach. Not stacking up on another new routine, but starting to ask “what is actually working for me?”
And this question led me to build an app. Not the usual kind of tracking app, without streaks and performance/ optimization components. And not tracking for the sake of tracking. But to help notice patterns. Does coffee really affect my sleep? Do I really have more energy after at least 10.000 steps a day? What effect does my cycle actually have on my mood?
So not more stress and optimization, but a quiet way to notice patterns to see what actually works and helps. Because sometimes knowing your own patterns is the most powerful wellness tool there is.
If that resonates with you - I’d love for you to try it. https://testflight.apple.com/join/KEa9nZ9t
